Centre de la Francophonie des Ameriques
The mission of the Centre de la francophonie des Amériques is to contribute to the development and self-realization of francophones and francophiles by fostering closer ties between people, groups and communities interested in the francophonie. Sexy Theater/dance show: The Judgment of Paris in NYC

6th Annual GlobalFest

For the sixth year, this leading showcase for international sounds keeps a foot in the door of cultural exchange, giving dozens of musicians access to the national stage. The event takes place at the newly remodeled Webster Hall. France’s L&O, led by violinist Oliver Slabiak of klezmorim Les Yeux Noirs, will make the U.S. debut of a new project with his operatically trained vocalist wife, bringing their swinging and cosmopolitan update of French chanson. more | website

NAT: A reverie of Form - Collective Exhibition

Paris/New York: Design Fashion Culture 1925-1940
Through February 22
Paris/New York: Design Fashion Culture 1925-1940 will explore not only architecture and design, but also film, fashion, and the performing arts. Styles from Art Deco to neo-romanticism will be examined along with the work of such legendary figures as Helena Rubinstein, Coco Chanel, Salvador Dali­­, and Josephine Baker, and lesser-known figures such as costume and set designer Pavel Tchelitchew. The exhibition and its accompanying publication (Monacelli Press, forthcoming in September 2008) will bring together never-before-exhibited drawings, furnishings, decorative objects, costumes, photographs, posters, and films. more | website

Question pour un Champion - Selection
January 28

The French TV show "Questions pour un Champion", presented by Julien Lepers and broadcast on France 3 and TV5, organizes the "French Language" international competition. Four American winners will be invited to Paris for a week (beginning March 2009). The conditions for participating in this selection are: To be born in the USA ; To live in the USA; To be more than 18 years ; Have a good knowledge of French language. The selection will take place on Wednesday 28 January 2009 at 17:30 at the French Institute Alliance Francaise (Room Tinker Auditorium).

Draw me Peace
Deadline: March 15

Within the framework of the "Voyage for peace 2009", which will take place from May 27th till June 3rd, Fair Events organizes, in patrnetship with the Ministry of Education of France the third publishing of the international drawing contest "Draw me Peace". This contest is organized in order to make the youngsters aware of how much the dialogue is important. Again, will participate Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco but also Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia... Through March 15, the pupils of the elementary and secondary school are invited to enhance their ability in this competition by sending their original productions (drawing, posters, comic strips, video...) more | website
